It was here that Nelson Mandela and his comrades were imprisoned for decades of apartheid. Former inmates take you on a shrewd tour the prison. This historical island is now a World Heritage Site and proclaimed nature conservation.
Cape WinelandsOpyt not to be missed! Acres of vineyards, a beautiful Dutch houses, and stunning mountain back drop are home to many wonderful South African wine estates. Cradle of Mankind declared a World Heritage Cradle of Humankind west of Johannesburg includes, among its numerous sites, Sterkfontein Caves, where anthropologist Dr Robert Broom discovered the skull of Mrs. Ples, three million old hominid, in 1936. At that time it was considered the closest evidence the “missing link” to be found.
Kruger National Park
About the size of Israel, the Kruger Park is the greatest of the many South African parks, which attract many visitors to the intention to drink in the desert. On guided walks, drives or self-drive, visitors have the best chance of finding the big five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo) in this park.
Drakensberg gorTysyach kilometers of majesty, the Drakensberg (Dragon Mountains) range of platform adventure tourists. It is also ideal for archiving, walking and simple relaxation. Full game sanctuaries, Bushman rock art sites, challenging peaks and cascading waterfalls, views of the Drakensberg will compete with anything the rest of the world has to offer.
Soweto south of Johannesburg, Soweto is – the largest of the townships in South Africa. This bustling city is home to nearly 2 million people, and many historical attractions. Typical visit to Soweto includes a stop at a traditional shebeen (drinking hall), where you can sample the local beer, food and hospitality, as well as visiting the house where Nobel laureates Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu once lived.
